Blue Grass ASCM Forum March 2024 Newsletter Print

President's Report

Dear Bluegrass ASCM forum,
First, let me apologize for getting this note out so late in the start of 2024.  No excuses, but let's just say there is a lot going on.  As we look at this year, we would like to hear from the forum on what topics are importance to them and how we can better suit those needs (send to [email protected]) .  We certainly are in need of content and speakers this year and would be open to hearing from members about what they need.  Maybe it is just networking and meeting others in your field.  Attached in this newsletter, you will hear about some upcoming sessions hosted by KY-MEP in different parts of the state of Kentucky.  Please consider these opportunities and we will pass more along as we find out about them.
Many of the forums in the state of Kentucky are student forums.  If any of those forums want to collaborate or hold joint sessions, please reach out to our Bluegrass forum.  Additionally, if members want to support these student forums in other ways, you can contact the forums in the find a partner section of ASCM.org and filtering on Kentucky.  Remember, these students are the next professionals in the supply chain field in the coming years.
ASCM continues to provide resources for professionals looking to grow new skills or just increase their awareness of key topics.  The on-line platform training for several of the certificate programs are self-paced and on-line.  Please visit ASCM.org and checkout these programs to see if they fit your needs.
Looking forward to 2024 with new possibilities for learning and enhancing our supply chain skills and knowledge.
Sincerely,
David Groce

APICS Certifications are available through BCTC Workforce Solutions

For several years now, the ASCM Blue Grass Forum has offered single company and multi-company APICS certification classes through Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) Workforce Solutions team.  Our project manager is Ted Nicholson, and he can be reached at [email protected] for more information.  Workforce Solutions offers many certification and non-certification educational offerings (beyond APICS as well) to persons who are already in the Workforce.

The ASCM name is relatively new, but the APICS certifications have been well known for years as the most recognized and respected in supply chain.  For our Blue Grass Forum members, we offer certification classes for CPIM, CSCP and CLTD.  Classes are on demand and may be virtual, in person or a hybrid.  If you or your company is interested, please be sure to reach out to Ted Nicholson and get details on class sizes, costs (reduced cost classes are available through Workforce Solutions for companies meeting certain criteria), and scheduling options.

Our training partner, Workforce Solutions is ready to support your certification needs!

“I recently completed the excellent S&OP training class offered through ASCM Colorado Chapter.
Chapter. About 1 year ago my company began a formal S&OP process, and I was asked to take on the
facilitator
role. Although I’ve been exposed to S&OP concepts, I found the training class covered essential
fundamentals that reinforced and strengthened my understanding. The learning environment created a
solid forum to discuss specifics about our business and how the S&OP process can be more effective.
The course pacing allowed time to absorb material and understand the critical factors to ensure
S&OP success. I took away several important changes to implement in the S&OP process which will
strengthen my company’s bottom line! This course was the same high-quality product I’ve come to
know ASCM Colorado Chapter to offer, and I speak from experience holding my CPIM and CSCP training
through the Colorado Chapter’s classes!” Tony Fabrizio, CPIM, CSCP, General Shale Brick
